I had the privilege of working under Humphrey Rwabugahya, during a documentary project for the Democratic Governance Facility, where he served as the Communications Specialist overseeing the production.

From the beginning, Humphrey stood out as a very knowledgeable and experienced professional. What impressed me most was not just his background in communications, but his strong understanding of the creative process, from storytelling and cinematography to editing, music, and post-production. This is quite rare, as many communications specialists are not always deeply familiar with the creative side of filmmaking.

Throughout the project, his attention to detail and ability to engage with the finer aspects of production made a big difference. He understood the creative decisions we were making, which helped improve the overall quality of the work and made the collaboration smooth and enjoyable. As a filmmaker, it was refreshing to work with someone who truly understands and values the craft.

Humphrey’s support extended beyond creative guidance. His professionalism, organization, and responsiveness ensured that the entire process, from planning and field coordination to post-production, ran smoothly. He provided clear direction during pre-production and fieldwork, offered thoughtful input on branding and storytelling, and ensured that logistical aspects, including payments, were handled efficiently and on time.

What stood out most, however, was his character and leadership style. Humphrey creates an environment where creatives feel respected, supported, and comfortable to express their ideas, while still maintaining strong professional standards. His patience and approach made the entire experience both productive and enjoyable.
