Symposium Theme and Focus Areas

AES2026 theme:

“Advancing Integrated, Resilient and Inclusive Electricity Systems for Africa’s Sustainable Development”

The Electricity Regulatory Authority has organised the Second (2) Africa Electricity Symposium (AES) 2026. The Symposium brings together Researchers in academia, industry, policymakers, and energy enthusiasts across the continent and beyond. This year’s conference is expected to trigger debate on financial sustainability of the power sector in Africa, the regulatory and standard harmonisation of the Africa’s power systems for smooth integration, infrastructure security, innovation, electricity access and productive. These will shape the debates in this year’s symposium in Kampala, Uganda. This year’s symposium will showcase peer-reviewed research findings, project developments, survey studies, and industry experiences that highlight advancements in, but not limited to, the following areas:

Symposium Objectives

The symposium will convene participants from across the continent and beyond to discuss matters pertaining Africa’s the power sector. The specific objectives include;

Promote policy dialogue and knowledge sharing on the continent among policy makers, practitioners, academia and sector players,

Strengthen partnership between Academia, practitioners and policy makers,

Promote dialogue on sustainable and Innovative infrastructure financing in Africa’s Power sector.

Bridge gap between the academia, and practitioner on the innovative solutions to meet the Africa’s power sector needs,

Promote dialogue on strengthening regional power system integrations across the continent

Selected high-quality papers from the symposium will undergo peer review and be considered for publication in a Journal, providing authors with the opportunity to contribute to the global discourse on energy innovation and sustainability in Africa.

Paper Submission Details

Authors are invited to submit a 800-1,500-word extended abstract summarizing their research, including title, author(s) details, introduction, objectives, methodology, key findings, discussion, conclusion, and references. To submit your extended abstract, please register. Once logged in, follow the prompts to enter your Abstract title, abstract, and author details, then upload your submission in PDF Format. You can also update your submission before the deadline. Submit Paper 

 

Selected high-quality papers presented at the conference will be invited to submit extended versions for consideration in a partnering peer-reviewed journal. Invited authors will be required to substantially expand their symposium papers, incorporating additional results, deeper analysis, and enhanced discussion to meet journal standards. All submissions will undergo additional peer-review process, and acceptance will be subject to the journal’s editorial policies and quality requirements.
